The Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW) Advisory Council advice agency leadership and offers funding and legislative recommendations.
Common Questions
Members serve an initial three-year term, with the option to apply for a second term. The Advisory Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month.
- Identify the needs of older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers who live in their communities.
- Advise on services to meet needs.

History
The Older Americans Act of 1965 and its subsequent amendments provide for the establishment of a citizens’ Advisory Council for each Area Agency on Aging (AAA). The purpose of the council is to advise the AAA on all matters relating to the development and implementation of services for older adults, and guidance in the development and administration of its Area Plan.
About Our Council
AAADSW's 18-member Advisory Council provides guidance and feedback to AAADSW leadership and staff on programs, community needs, and initiatives. Their work at monthly meetings is an integral part of AAADSW's efforts to serve the region. The Advisory Council represents older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers in Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Skamania, and Klickitat Counties of Southwest Washington.

Council Meetings
The Advisory Council meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except July and October) from 12:00 to 1:30 at our Vancouver office. The public is welcome to attend the meetings which are held at the Agency. Persons with a disability and who require accommodation should notify the Administrative Coordinator (360) 735-5721 three business days in advance of the meeting in order to discuss accommodations. Every effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations.
